In line with Hayward Miller’s continued expansion plans, Georgia McGhee has been taken on as an IT Apprentice. She will be responsible for managing computer systems, networks, secure data and IT infrastructure, training on the job whilst studying for a Level 3 Diploma with 3aaa of Cambridge.
Georgia brings with her a good amount of experience of website creation, scripting, installing operating systems, network cabling and social media. She will continue to use these and new learnt skills to provide IT support for the team, as well as for managing client ecommerce websites, providing network security and updating databases.
As a training provider, it was important for Managing Director Andrew Hayward to create an opportunity for an apprentice. “Investing in the future is something all companies should be doing.” says Andrew. “Here at Hayward Miller we had need for a capable IT professional. Our business needs were such that a fully qualified professional was not financially practical. The solution was Georgia, taken on with her interests in social media, websites, computers and IT infrastructure. She was looking for an apprenticeship in a forward-thinking, fast-growing business.”
It is the intention of Hayward Miller to take on another four apprentices over the next few years. These apprentices will each be assigned to one of our managers as their mentor.
When Georgia was asked why she decided to take the apprenticeship route, she answered “Whilst in sixth form I assessed my options and selected an apprenticeship as my career path. This way I could learn skills on the job and at the same time earn a wage.”
The Hayward Miller team welcomes Georgia and wishes her a successful future.
